About the Role

United Utilities is looking for a motivated and reliable Driver & Labourer to join its Asset Refurbishment team based at Chorley WWTW .

This is a hands-on role combining workshop support duties with the collection and delivery of assets across the North West region. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment is moved efficiently and safely, helping to reduce repair turnaround times and support the delivery of essential wastewater services.

Working closely with skilled Pump Fitters and Winders, you will assist with the preparation, movement, and handling of assets, allowing technical teams to focus on refurbishment and repair activities.

Location: Chorley Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW), Chorley Pay Rate: £13.84 per hour Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm Contract: 6-Month Contract with Permanent Opportunities Thereafter

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and deliver assets across the United Utilities operational area.
  • Support workshop operations through a variety of manual labour tasks.
  • Assist with loading and unloading workshop ovens.
  • Clean and prepare components for assembly and inspection.
  • Move and store parts throughout the repair cycle using pallet trucks and forklifts.
  • Spray paint completed assemblies to a professional standard.
  • Support emergency lifting and transportation activities when required.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Maintain high standards of driving safety at all times.
  • Act as a professional ambassador for United Utilities when visiting operational sites.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience working in a workshop, manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or operational environment.
  • Practical, hands-on approach to work.
  • Significant driving experience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Awareness of safe lifting and manual handling practices.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Forklift Truck Licence.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of water and wastewater assets.
  • Understanding of environmental regulations within the wastewater industry.
