Community Development Officer

3-Month Contract | £18-£20 per Hour | Hybrid Working

Are you passionate about supporting local communities and helping residents access the services they need?

We're looking for a Community Development Officer to join a friendly and supportive local authority team on an initial 3-month contract . This is a varied role that combines community engagement, partnership working, and support for carers and residents across the local area.

The Role

As a Community Development Officer, you'll play a key role in strengthening connections between the council, community organisations, voluntary groups, and local residents. You'll help communities access support, build valuable partnerships, and contribute to improving outcomes for residents.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building and maintaining relationships with community groups, charities, and voluntary sector organisations
• Supporting community outreach and resident engagement initiatives
• Promoting local services and preventative support available to residents
• Assisting community groups with funding and volunteering opportunities
• Conducting carers assessments (full training provided)
• Managing a small caseload and identifying support needs
• Signposting residents and carers to appropriate services
• Attending community meetings, networking events, and partnership forums
• Maintaining accurate records and case management systems
• Supporting residents through sensitive discussions relating to care and wellbeing needs

About You

We're keen to hear from candidates with experience in:

• Community engagement or community development
• Resident involvement or outreach work
• Voluntary, charity, housing, wellbeing, or social care services
• Stakeholder engagement and partnership working
• Supporting vulnerable individuals or groups
• Managing caseloads, records, or customer-focused support services

You will be a confident communicator who enjoys building relationships and making a positive difference within local communities.
