An established and growing international freight forwarding business is seeking an experienced Air Import Operator to join its busy operations team based in Wythenshawe.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing end-to-end air import shipments, ensuring the smooth movement of freight from origin through to final delivery. Working closely with overseas partners, airlines, customers and customs authorities, you will provide a high level of operational service while maintaining compliance and accuracy throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage air import shipments from booking through to final delivery.
• Liaise with overseas agents, airlines, hauliers and customers regarding shipment status and requirements.
• Complete customs clearance procedures and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations.
• Arrange deliveries and coordinate transport activities.
• Monitor shipments and proactively resolve any operational issues.
• Prepare and process import documentation accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain customer communication throughout the shipment lifecycle.
• Ensure all billing and job-costing information is completed correctly.
• Support continuous improvement of operational processes and service delivery.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience within air freight import operations.
• Strong understanding of freight forwarding procedures and documentation.
• Knowledge of UK customs clearance processes and CDS systems.
• Experience working with airlines, overseas agents and transport providers.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• A proactive and customer-focused approach.
