Accountant with Payroll Experience

A well-respected independent accountancy practice is looking to recruit an AAT Accountant with payroll experience to join its Hertford office.

This role has arisen due to continued growth and offers an excellent opportunity to join a long-established practice that genuinely invests in its people.

The successful candidate will play a key role across both the accounts and payroll functions, supporting a broad portfolio of clients whilst working closely with the Partners and wider team.

Key Responsibilities

• Accounts preparation
• Processing payroll for a variety of clients
• VAT Returns and MTD submissions
• Bookkeeping and ledger maintenance
• Bank reconciliations
• Journal postings, accruals and prepayments
• Processing records using Xero, Sage and QuickBooks
• Supporting client queries and day-to-day accounting matters
• Working to multiple deadlines across a varied client portfolio

The Ideal Candidate

You will ideally have:

• Practice accountancy experience
• Payroll processing experience
• AAT Qualified or AAT Part Qualified
• Bookkeeping and VAT experience
• Knowledge of Sage, Xero and QuickBooks
• Excellent communication skills
• Good organisation and time management skills
• A proactive and team-focused approach
