Recruit4staff are representing a well-established shipbuilding and engineering business in their search for a Welder to work in Birkenhead

Job Details:

• Pay: £21.51 per hour. Overtime Monday to Saturday is paid at x1.5 (£32.27 per hour), with Sundays paid at x2 (£43.02 per hour).
• Hours of Work: Core working hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a 2:30pm finish on Friday. Overtime is available after core hours and at weekends.
• Duration: Temporary
• Benefits: 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays, free on-site parking, overtime opportunities, and potential opportunities to work at other sites with out-of-town allowances and project bonuses.

Job Role:

As a Welder , you will work on heavy-gauge steel components using Flux Core and MIG welding techniques within a heavy engineering environment. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings, assembling structures using welding, bolts or rivets, and completing vertical and overhead **** and fillet welds. The Welder will also operate relevant tools and machinery while maintaining consistently high standards of workmanship.

Essential Skills, Experience, or Qualifications:

• Proven expertise in heavy-gauge steel welding within a Welder role.
• Experience within the marine, nuclear, steel fabrication, offshore, petrochemical or construction industries.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Ability and willingness to complete BPSS checks and undergo the process required to gain SC clearance.

Advantageous Skills, Experience, or Qualifications

• City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent qualification in Fabrication or Welding.
• Previous Flux Core welding experience relevant to a Welder position.
• Previously coded in FCAW, MMA or MIG welding.
• Experience within the marine, ship repair or shipbuilding sector.

Additional Information

• Half-shift overtime is available Monday to Friday between 4:30pm and 6:30pm.
• Saturday and Sunday overtime hours are 8:00am to 2:00pm.
• Monday to Saturday overtime is paid at x1.5 (£32.27 per hour).
• Sunday overtime is paid at x2 (£43.02 per hour).
• There may be opportunities to work night shifts, with a basic rate of £32.27 per hour and an overtime rate of £43.02 per hour.
• The Welder may have opportunities to work at other client sites, with out-of-town allowances and project bonuses available.
• Candidates must bring their own PPE and tools for trade tests and when commencing the assignment.
• All candidates must complete BPSS checks and be willing and eligible to undergo the process required to gain SC clearance.
