Cloud & Infrastructure Principal Engineer #IAC

Responsibilities

Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture

• Define enterprise cloud and infrastructure strategy.
• Establish reference architectures, standards, and governance frameworks.
• Design hybrid infrastructure solutions covering:
• Microsoft Azure
• AWS
• Private Cloud o VMware/Nutanix Platforms
• Data Centre Infrastructure
• Container Platforms
• Develop and approve:
• High-Level Designs (HLD)
• Low-Level Designs (LLD)
• Technical Design Reviews
• Migration Roadmaps
• Ensure solutions meet requirements for:
• Scalability
• Availability
• Security
• Performance
• Disaster Recovery
• Compliance

Technical Leadership & Escalation Authority

• Serve as the highest engineering escalation point (L4/L5).
• Lead the resolution of critical infrastructure and cloud incidents.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major incidents.
• Drive permanent corrective actions and service improvements.
• Provide technical mentoring to:
• Technical Leads
• Senior Engineers
• Cloud Engineers
• Infrastructure Engineers
• Establish engineering best practices and technical standards.

Lead engineering and governance across:

Provide technical governance for:

• Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

• Drive platform modernisation and cloud-native adoption.
• Reduce operational effort through automation initiatives.

Security, Risk & Compliance

• Establish infrastructure security standards and baselines.
• Lead security hardening initiatives.
• Oversee:
• Vulnerability management
• Patch governance
• Risk mitigation
• Security remediation
• Ensure compliance with:
• CIS Benchmarks
• ISO 27001
• Regulatory requirements
• Customer governance policies
• Support audits and security assessments.

Project & Transformation Leadership

Lead major initiatives including:

• Data Centre Migration
• Cloud Migration
• Cloud Adoption Framework Implementation
• Hybrid Cloud Transformation
• Infrastructure Consolidation
• Operating System Modernisation
• Disaster Recovery Programmes
• Platform Engineering Initiatives

Responsibilities include:

• Solution assurance
• Technical governance
• Risk management
• Steering committee participation
• Technical stakeholder engagement

Professional Services & Pre-Sales Support

• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME)during:
• Bid submissions
• Technical proposals
• Customer presentations
• Architecture workshops
• Review Statements of Work (SOWs).
• Support solution costing and effort estimation.
• Contribute to service portfolio development.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Manage relationships with strategic technology partners.
• Participate in executive-level technical discussions.
• Drive vendor escalations and product roadmap alignment.
• Provide advisory services to customers and internal leadership.

Any other ad-hoc duties as advised by supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline.
• Master's Degree is advantageous.
• Minimum 12–15 years of IT Infrastructure and Cloud experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a technical leadership role.
