Application Engineer (Power Systems) Up to $6,000 | 1-Year Contract #HCG

Your tasks

• Manage mechanical and electrical engineering activities for large-scale power infrastructure projects, ensuring technical deliverables meet project specifications and timelines.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to establish technical requirements, review project specifications and define the scope of engineering solutions.
• Develop and coordinate engineering designs for integrated mechanical and electrical systems, including equipment layouts, automation and supporting infrastructure.
• Prepare, review and coordinate technical documentation, engineering drawings, schematics, specifications and equipment datasheets.
• Perform engineering calculations, technical assessments and design evaluations to ensure system functionality, performance and cost efficiency.
• Liaise with external suppliers, contractors and manufacturing teams to coordinate technical requirements, evaluate proposals and ensure timely delivery of engineering solutions.
• Oversee engineering activities throughout project execution, including equipment selection, procurement coordination and technical documentation approval.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting during project implementation, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Conduct design reviews, identify potential improvements and implement engineering solutions to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Support supplier development, technical knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Keep updated on relevant engineering technologies, industry developments and technical standards.
• Undertake overseas business travel and provide on-site engineering support when required.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience in power generation, diesel engines, generators, marine, shipping, automation, oil and gas or related industries.
• Strong technical knowledge in either mechanical or electrical engineering, with the ability to understand and coordinate across both disciplines.
• Experience in engineering design, technical solution development and project execution involving complex mechanical or electrical systems.
• Knowledge of relevant systems such as power generation, automation, electrical protection, cooling, fuel systems, ventilation or related equipment.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations, technical assessments and equipment sizing within the relevant area of specialisation.
• Experience in preparing, reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, system layouts and technical specifications.
• Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software.
• Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, contractors and internal project teams.
• Good problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach towards resolving technical issues and improving engineering processes.
• Willingness to travel overseas or provide on-site project support when required.
