The Senior Corporate Auditor is part of the Group Corporate Audit Function and reports directly to the Director Corporate Audit at the global headquarters in Germany.
Position Summary
The Senior Corporate Auditor is responsible for planning, leading and executing risk-based internal audit activities across the RATIONAL Group. The position provides independent assurance and advisory services regarding the effectiveness of governance, risk management, internal controls, compliance and business processes.
The role requires close interaction with senior management, executive leadership, local management teams and process owners across multiple international locations, including frequent collaboration with the German headquarters.
The position contributes significantly to safeguarding company assets, ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening internal controls and supporting continuous process improvement throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan, coordinate and execute complex internal audit engagements across international subsidiaries and corporate functions.
- Lead audit projects covering financial, operational, compliance and governance-related topics.
- Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes, internal controls and risk management frameworks.
- Conduct investigations, special reviews and ad hoc assignments as requested by executive management.
- Review accounting records, contracts, documentation and business transactions to ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
- Identify risks, control weaknesses and process improvement opportunities and develop practical recommendations for management.
- Prepare professional audit reports and presentations for executive management and the Executive Board.
- Monitor and follow up on agreed corrective actions and remediation measures.
- Support the continuous enhancement of the Group Internal Control System (ICS).
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory authorities when required.
- Contribute to the development of audit methodologies, standards and the overall Corporate Audit strategy.
Scope and Complexity
- Operates independently with limited supervision.
- Addresses complex business and compliance issues where established precedents may not exist.
- Leads recurring international audit projects and cross-functional initiatives.
- Interacts regularly with senior stakeholders across multiple business functions and countries.
- Serves as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor within the organization.
- Supports the development and training of junior team members where appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Law, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
- Several years of professional experience in Internal Audit, External Audit, Risk Management, Compliance or a comparable function within an international organization.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation issued by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is required, or an equivalent relevant professional qualification, is required.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management, internal controls and business processes.
- Experience working in multinational environments and with cross-border business operations.
- Knowledge of SAP environments, particularly SAP FI/CO, SD and/or MM, is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience working with German counterparts is required, as the role involves extensive collaboration with key stakeholders at the German headquarters.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.
Travel Requirements
- International business travel of up to 25% is required.
