Project Controls Manager – Mission Critical Infrastructure
We are looking for an experienced commercial and controls specialist to build out robust cost governance for large-scale advanced manufacturing builds. In this role, you will take ownership of expenditure tracking, contract administration, and project forecasting from initial groundbreak to final commercial close-out.
Job Description
- Set up and maintain custom controls frameworks to govern budgets, documentation flows, and monthly financial reporting across the full project lifecycle.
- Supervise commercial engagements with the main contractor and trade packages, keeping day-to-day cost controls tight and transparent.
- Steer the project’s financial heartbeat, managing progress payment applications, cash outflow tracking, cost-to-complete forecasts, and final account settlements.
- Drive the variation loop: assess proposed scope changes, vet subcontractor pricing, verify entitlement, and flag high-impact commercial risks early.
- Work alongside planning specialists to cross-reference time implications against cost curves and project milestones.
- Vet and approve progress billings, audit contractor submissions against physical site progress, and coordinate necessary adjustments.
- Deliver straightforward financial summaries and budget reviews directly to client leads and executive stakeholders.
- Assist with initial project scoping, cost planning, and baseline setup for incoming work packages.
- Support a job-site culture focused on safety, quality, rapid turnaround, and clear accountability.
Requirements
- At least a decade of hands-on cost engineering, quantity surveying, or project controls experience within data centres, semiconductor facilities, or parallel high-spec industrial builds.
- Degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Project Management, or a related field.
- Strong background in contract administration with the commercial acumen to scrutinize contractor claims and variation validity.
- Solid grounding in cost estimation, budget formation, earned-value principles, and variance reporting.
- High proficiency with standard office productivity suites (Excel/Sheets); practical exposure to scheduling tools like Primavera P6 is a clear benefit.
- Comfort adapting to customized client delivery frameworks and learning proprietary reporting software.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial positions clearly to senior management.
- A proactive, independent work style that stays structured and calm under tight, fast-paced deadlines.
