School Catering Assistant - Cambridge

School Catering Assistant Location: Cambridge Pay Rate: £14.24 - £14.57 per hour

We are seeking a positive and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to join our Client who are high-energy school kitchen team here in Cambridge. In this role, you will play a vital part in making lunchtime a happy, healthy, and welcoming experience for our wonderful students and staff.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day: Food Prep & Service: Help wash, peel, and chop fresh ingredients under the guidance of our Head Chef. You'll also set up service counters and serve meals with a smile during the lunchtime rush. Kitchen Care: Keep our kitchen sparkling and safe by operating commercial dishwashers, washing pots, and wiping down prep stations. Safety & Standards: Help us maintain our high food hygiene ratings by following health and safety rules, tracking fridge temperatures, and practising safe stock rotation (FIFO). Allergy Awareness: Work carefully to ensure students with food allergies and special dietary needs receive the correct, safe meals.

What We Are Looking For: A Great Attitude: You are warm, approachable, and love interacting positively with children and school staff. Team Spirit: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy supporting your colleagues. Physical Stamina: You are comfortable being on your feet, lifting crates or stock pots, and handling repetitive cleaning tasks. Experience & Qualifications: Previous kitchen or customer service experience is a plus, as is a basic Food Safety Certificate-but it is not essential! We will happily provide full training to the right candidate.
