Job Title: Senior Clinical Study Startup Specialist Location: Welwyn Garden City (Hybrid - Minimum 2-3 Days On-Site) Contract Duration: 6 Months (Inside IR35) Work Pattern: Full-Time | 37.5 Hours per Week Pay Rates: Umbrella: £450.00 - £500.00 / day
PAYE Basic: £339.27 - £376.97 / day (+ Holiday Pay)
About the Role We are seeking an experienced, country-facing Study Startup Specialist to lead and accelerate clinical trial site activation across the UK. Based out of state-of-the-art offices in Welwyn Garden City, this role sits at the critical intersection of clinical operations, site contracts, and R&D teams. This is a 6-month contract opportunity designed for a specialist with recent hands-on experience setting up clinical trials directly within the UK healthcare ecosystem. Key Responsibilities UK Site Activation: Drive end-to-end country site-facing startup activities, ensuring rapid, compliant site initiation for clinical studies across the UK.
Contracts & Budgeting: Oversee and execute clinical site contracts, costings, and budget templates in line with UK regulatory and institutional requirements.
R&D & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal R&D teams, CROs, study management teams, and NHS/site investigators to streamline site onboarding.
Regulatory & Governance: Ensure all study startup documentation and ethics approvals adhere strictly to UK GCP, MHRA, and local regulatory frameworks.
Essential Candidate Criteria Proven UK Trial Startup Experience: Recent, direct experience setting up clinical studies specifically within the UK (candidates with only global/overseas study management experience will not be considered).
Contracting & Costing Expertise: In-depth knowledge and practical execution of UK clinical trial agreement (mCTA) drafting, budgeting, and costing templates.
R&D & Site Interaction: Demonstrated experience dealing directly with R&D departments and UK-based clinical research sites/NHS trusts.
Location & Hybrid Flexibility: Able to work from the Welwyn Garden City office a minimum of 2 to 3 days per week .
