Senior Civil Design Engineer

Are you based in or around Merseyside? Balfour Beatty could be looking for you! One of the largest Construction contractors in the UK, the successful applicant will be an individual who holds 5+ years of complex structural renewal and maintenance experience and is capable of delivering engineering solutions within a design and build environment.

Your tasks

• Undertaking the design of complex structural renewal and maintenance projects from inception to design completion
• Conducting structures assessments
• Managing the delivery of site investigations / surveying and planning
• Preparing and reviewing technical reports and draft specifications for remedial and improvement works
• Preparing calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and technical reports
• Providing technical reports on the condition / capacity of existing structures
• Carrying out detailed design and preparing supporting documentation
• Undertaking structure inspection, assessment and preparation of reports
• Identifying technical resources required to deliver aspects of a Project
• Supervising implementation of work and undertaking appropriate checking of the work as required
• A full JD can be provided with additional accountability

Requirements

Are you an experienced Civil or Structural Design Engineer?

Do you have experience working complex structural renewal projects?

• Degree educated within Civil or Structural Engineering discipline (HNC will be accepted with the addition of 5+ years railway structure design experience)
• Registered with the Engineering Council as an Incorporated Engineer
• Working towards membership of the I.C.E
• Good working knowledge of Group Standards / Health and Safety legislation and CDM regulations
• Knowledge of engineering drawing practices
• competent in CAD and familiar with Structure Analysis package (STAADpro or similar)
• Experienced in the detailed facets of engineering for particular discipline.
• Previous experience delivering solutions to engineering problems in the design and build environment
• experience in leading medium sized teams

Desirable requirements

• Experience in railway based civil engineering and structures
• Undertaking PTS, IWA, COSS, confined spaces, aerial platform, OHLE training (as required)
• Experience in the asset management of railway civil engineering structures

What we offer

*Salary:£55ph Contract length:** 12 months initially with the potential to be extended
