Your tasks
About the Role Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Principal Social Worker to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will lead, drive, and inspire practice excellence across the service to safeguard and promote the well-being of vulnerable children and young people
As a Principal Social Worker, you will act as a champion for evidence-based interventions, professional leadership, and continuous practice development-ensuring our social care teams achieve the best possible outcomes for individuals and families in our communities.
Requirements
Key Requirements
- Qualification: Degree in Social Work (BSc, MA, DipSW, or equivalent).
- Registration: Current, valid registration with Social Care Wales
- Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience in statutory Children's , including demonstrated experience in practice supervision, mentorship, or senior-level decision-making.
- Skills: Expert knowledge of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, safeguarding frameworks, and evidence-based intervention models.

Pay Rate: £33.00/hr (PAYE) | £42.60/hr (Umbrella / Limited)

Principal Social Worker - Children Services Location: Ty Elai, Heol Dinas Isaf, Tonypandy, Rhondda Cynon Taf, CF40 1NY
Work Pattern & Induction
- Induction: A 1 to 2-week induction period on-site to ensure you are fully confident and set up to work autonomously.
- Hybrid Schedule: After induction, you will be required in the Tonypandy office (Ty Elai) every Monday and Tuesday, with flexibility for home working on remaining days.
