Specialist Mechanic in Large Tonnage Excavators (High Mountain)
At Randstad, we are looking for a Specialist Mechanic in Hydraulic Excavators to join a large-scale open-pit mining project. The selected person will be part of the technical team responsible for the assembly from scratch, commissioning, and integral maintenance of a new fleet of large tonnage excavators.
Main Responsibilities:
- Assembly and commissioning: Execute the mounting, adjustment, testing, and commissioning from scratch of the new fleet of hydraulic excavators (backhoe).
- Integral technical maintenance: Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective interventions in mechanical, structural, undercarriage, and high-pressure hydraulic systems (main pumps, control valves, swing and travel motors).
- Advanced diagnosis: Interpret blueprints of hydraulic, centralized lubrication, and mechanical transmission systems. Resolve complex failures using pressure instruments and diagnostic software.
- Component intervention: Define and execute the replacement of major components (diesel engines, hydraulic pumps, final drives, lift/penetration/bucket cylinders) and minor components.
- Safety and availability: Strictly apply safe lockout procedures (LOTO) to guarantee the physical availability goal of the fleet on site.
- Reports and monitoring: Prepare root cause analysis, field service reports, and perform condition monitoring (SOS oil sampling and structural inspections).
What are we looking for?
- Training: Mechanical Technician, Electromechanical Technician, or graduate in Heavy Equipment Maintenance (completed tertiary level, mandatory).
- Experience: More than 5 years of verifiable experience in maintenance of hydraulic excavators or large-scale backhoes in open-pit mining or large infrastructure works (mandatory).
- Driver's license: Valid Class B2 license or higher (mandatory).
- Languages: Intermediate English level (mandatory).
- Desirable requirements: Previous experience in assembly and mounting projects of heavy mining equipment, proven knowledge in adjustment and pressure calibration in variable flow hydraulic pumps, and use of IT tools (Excel, SAP, Power BI).
- Residence and mobility: Residing in the province of San Juan or availability to relocate.
Hiring Conditions and Location:
- Location: Operation in high mountain areas, San Juan.
- Working day: 14x14 shift regime with on-site camp.
- Work modality: On-site.
