Job Description

We are looking for a Civil and Structural Specialist to join a rehabilitation and maintenance project for industrial facilities in the petrochemical sector. The position will have a significant field work component, performing inspections, technical evaluations, and monitoring rehabilitation and construction works related to civil and metal structures. We are looking for a professional with solid knowledge of civil and structural engineering, capable of interpreting plans and technical specifications, identifying conditions and defects in existing structures, and verifying that the executed works comply with applicable designs, norms, and standards.

Main responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections and evaluations of existing civil and structural elements, including buildings, foundations, pipe racks, platforms, and metal structures.
  • Inspect new works, repairs, and modifications of concrete and steel structures.
  • Verify excavation, backfilling, compaction, and soil stabilization works.
  • Supervise and inspect the correct execution of formwork, reinforcement steel placement, and concrete pouring.
  • Inspect metal structures, including fabrication, welding, and bolted connections.
  • Review plans, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation related to civil and structural works.
  • Identify defects, deviations, and conditions that may affect the integrity and safety of the structures.
  • Prepare inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCR), punch lists, and other quality records.
  • Coordinate technically with QA/QC, Engineering, Construction, Maintenance, contractors, and client teams.
  • Follow up in the field on the correction of observations and non-conformities.
  • Verify the compliance of works with applicable codes, norms, and specifications.

Requirements:

  • Civil Engineer, preferably with an orientation or experience in structures.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in civil and/or structural functions.
  • Experience in industrial projects, preferably in Oil & Gas, petrochemicals, refineries, energy, or industrial facilities.
  • Verifiable experience in inspection and evaluation of civil and/or metal structures.
  • Ability to interpret civil and structural plans, technical specifications, and construction procedures.
  • Knowledge of concrete deterioration mechanisms, reinforcement steel corrosion, and structural integrity evaluation.
  • Knowledge of concrete works, reinforcement steel, grouting, earthworks, and metal structures.
  • Knowledge of welding procedures and quality control of metal structures.
  • Knowledge of norms and codes applicable to structures and construction, especially ACI, AISC, and ASTM.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Experience with engineering and structural analysis tools, especially ETABS, SAP2000, or other similar programs, will be valued.
  • Ability to prepare technical reports and inspection records.
  • Good communication, analysis, and attention to detail skills.
  • Availability to perform field work in industrial facilities.
  • Proficiency in English.
