rain. Labs Entertainment is a boutique independent music company working across the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa. As a distribution partner of Virgin Music Group (Universal Music Group), we release, market and grow a roster of artists from across West Africa, East Africa and the UK, including Mellissa, Joey B, Ko-Jo Cue, Jiire Smith, Anabel Rose, Yung D3mz, Karun and MAUIMØON.

We also offer label services to both major and independent artists, covering PR, marketing, DSP marketing, radio and roll-out strategy.

Head of Label Operations

Location: Remote (moving to hybrid) | Contract: Full-time, permanent, with a 6-month probation period

The role

You'll run the engine room of Rain Labs. You'll lead the team and the systems that get releases out on time, get royalties paid correctly, and keep our distribution and partner relationships strong. You'll report to the CEO and act as the bridge between A&R, marketing, finance and our distribution partners.

What you'll do

Lead and manage the release operations team, overseeing scheduling, metadata, assets and delivery quality across the roster and label services clients Own our day-to-day distribution relationship with Virgin Music Group, including release priorities, delivery, marketing asks, reporting and escalations Manage royalty accounting and statements, including reconciling distributor reports, artist splits, advances and recoupment Oversee artist contract administration, rights tracking and catalogue data integrity Build and improve workflows, tooling and reporting across our UK and African operations Manage campaign and advance budgets, cash-flow forecasting and vendor relationships Line-manage the operations team

What you'll bring

5+ years in label operations, distribution, royalties or rights management Experience managing a distributor relationship, ideally with a major-affiliated distributor A strong understanding of DSP delivery, metadata standards (ISRC, UPC) and royalty flows Strong commercial and financial literacy, and comfort with contracts and recoupment A systems-minded, organised approach and the ability to build process where there isn't any yet Experience leading people and working remotely across time zones

Nice to have

Existing relationships with DSP teams (Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack, Boomplay, YouTube and others), especially across the UK and Africa, for escalations and release priorities Experience with Sub-Saharan African markets or independent/distributed labels Familiarity with royalty platforms such as Curve, Revelator or similar
