Job Description

• You will drive the strategic further development of the transport reinsurance portfolio and continuously develop the underwriting guidelines for transport treaty reinsurance.
• Furthermore, you will develop market strategies for selected target markets and, based on these, create revenue and earnings plans.
• In the transport reinsurance market – particularly in the USA and UK – you will independently acquire and manage (large) customers and purposefully expand the portfolio of R+V RE. This includes the analytical observation and evaluation of the market, the identification of market potentials and risks, the planning and steering of business, regular customer and broker visits, as well as the implementation of marketing activities.
• You will support and advise (portfolio) underwriters in the underwriting of complex business. You will make decisions regarding the underwriting of reinsurance treaties or individual risks within the framework of the specifications, determine the conditions, and negotiate them with brokers and/or customers.
• You will manage the underwritten business in close cooperation with internal interfaces such as Reserving, Claims, Receivables Management, Run-Off, Contract Amendments, Special Acceptances, IKS, and Accumulation Control.
• Additionally, you will support management in technical matters as well as in the development of the department strategy and participate in the development of department-wide issues.
• You will professionally represent R+V RE externally at international conferences, seminars, as well as in specialist committees and associations.
• If required, you will lead interdisciplinary working groups on cross-departmental issues and undertake special and project tasks temporarily or permanently.

Qualifications

• Ideally, a completed degree in mathematics, business administration, or law with a focus on insurance / reinsurance, or comparable training.
• Many years of professional experience as a Marine Underwriter at a reinsurer or reinsurance broker.
• Very good knowledge of the international marine reinsurance market. Many years of experience in dealing with and managing interfaces.
• You possess very good English skills.
• Independent way of working as well as good time and organizational management skills.
• Experience in conflicting negotiation situations with customers and brokers.
• As a socially competent team player, you score with analytical foresight, communication and conceptual strength, as well as a high degree of personal responsibility.

Working Hours: Standard 38h week, time tracking system, flextime & lifetime working account.

Vacation: 30 days of vacation & additional non-working days (Dec 24th and Dec 31st).
