BUSINESS ADVISORY SERVICES CONSULTANT
This is not a general management consulting position. The successful candidate will be expected to bring strong commercial and financial judgement and have practical experience evaluating investments, managing business performance, assessing financial and operational risks, and advising senior stakeholders on commercially significant decisions.
The role will work closely with management and clients across investment evaluation, business performance, funding and cash-flow management, cost optimisation, risk assessment and operational improvement, with particular emphasis on businesses and investments across Asian markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level advisory support on business operations, investments, financial performance and commercial strategy.
- Evaluate investment opportunities across different industry sectors through market research, financial analysis, commercial assessment and risk evaluation.
- Conduct financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cash-flow projections and profitability reviews to support management decisions.
- Assess funding requirements, banking facilities, cash management and capital allocation considerations for businesses and projects.
- Review financial and operational performance to identify cost inefficiencies, business risks and opportunities for profitability improvement.
- Support the evaluation of real estate and project-based investments, including feasibility, financial viability, funding requirements and investment returns.
- Review investment proposals, business plans and pitch decks and provide commercially grounded recommendations to management.
- Conduct industry and market analysis across multiple sectors to identify emerging opportunities, risks and investment considerations.
- Work collaboratively with finance, operations, investment, project, legal and management stakeholders.
- Prepare investment papers, financial analyses, management reports and presentations for senior decision-makers.
- Participate in discussions with investors, financial institutions, business owners and other external stakeholders.
- Monitor project and investment performance against agreed financial and operational milestones.
- Identify financial, investment and operational risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Support management on business transformation, operational improvement and cost-optimisation initiatives.
Essential Experience
Applicants should possess substantial professional experience covering several of the following areas:
- Financial and/or investment advisory
- Investment analysis and evaluation
- Real estate or project investment
- Business operations and performance management
- Financial modelling and commercial analysis
- Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Cash-flow forecasting and cash management
- Funding and banking facilities
- Cost optimisation and profitability improvement
- Investment/project risk assessment
- Senior management or client advisory
Candidates whose experience is predominantly limited to general business consulting, sales, recruitment, administrative operations or project coordination without substantive financial/investment responsibilities are unlikely to meet the requirements of this position.
Preferred Industry Exposure
Strong preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate experience across multiple business environments, particularly:
- Financial services / banking
- Investment management
- Real estate and property investment
- Construction or project-based businesses
- Hospitality or asset-based operating businesses
Experience working across Singapore, China and/or other Asian markets and the ability to navigate cross-border business environments would be highly advantageous.
Qualifications & Capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, International Business or a related discipline.
- 8 years of experience
- Strong financial and numerical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational information.
- Demonstrable experience producing commercially relevant analysis and recommendations for management or clients.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow, budgeting, investment returns and business performance.
- Ability to independently assess business and investment opportunities from both financial and operational perspectives.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, including confidence engaging senior management and external stakeholders.
- Strong commercial judgement, discretion and professional integrity.
- Ability to operate independently across multiple assignments and industries.
