On-board AI powers multi-modality sensing, autonomous navigation, anti-jamming, swarm operations and more.
Your tasks
About the role Quantum Counter detects and tracks targets from the ground. It combines radar, camera and other sensor observations into a trusted track picture that guides interceptor missions.
As our Sensor Fusion & Ground-Based Target Tracking Engineer, your core mission is to develop the fusion and tracking capability that turns heterogeneous detections into continuous, reliable target tracks. You will work on data association, state estimation, track management, uncertainty and cross-sensor cueing.
You will also own the sensor chain behind those algorithms: physical integration, timing, calibration, networking and vendor interfaces from lab setup to reliable field operation. You will extend the system to RF sensors, antenna-tracker data and distributed sensor nodes, working with our hardware integration partner, sensor manufacturers and the Mosaic team.
What is your Day to Day Mission
- Develop and validate the multi-sensor fusion pipeline that turns radar, camera and other ground-sensor observations into continuous target tracks.
- Implement and tune data association, state estimation, track initiation, maintenance and termination, uncertainty handling and outlier rejection.
- Develop sensor cueing and control workflows, using one sensor's detections to direct another sensor and improve target confirmation and track quality.
- Define metrics and test scenarios for detection, track continuity, accuracy, false tracks and latency, and validate performance in the lab and in the field.
- Integrate radar and camera sensors into the Quantum Counter ground system, from physical setup and networking to stable field operation.
- Configure, calibrate and debug sensor hardware and detection pipelines, including latency, time synchronization, alignment and coordinate-frame errors.
- Define and implement reliable interfaces that provide detections, tracks, metadata and health data to the fusion stack with known timing and quality.
- Build logging, replay and analysis tooling to reproduce failures, compare fusion behavior and drive issues to root cause.
- Extend the architecture to RF, antenna-tracker and distributed sensor data, and work with hardware integrators, sensor vendors and the Mosaic team on end-to-end delivery.
Requirements
We are looking for an engineer who can own the complete path from heterogeneous ground-sensor observations to a trusted target track. You should be strongest in sensor fusion and tracking, while remaining comfortable at the sensor rack, in logs and in code.
- Strong foundations in multi-sensor fusion and target tracking, including state estimation, data association and probabilistic filtering.
- Hands-on experience developing detection or tracking systems for radar, cameras, EO/IR, RF, lidar or other perception sensors in robotics, aerospace, automotive or defense systems.
- A practical understanding of track management, sensor uncertainty, outlier rejection, coordinate transformations, calibration, time synchronization and latency.
- Strong implementation skills in C++, Rust, Python or a comparable language, plus experience with Linux, middleware, APIs or networked systems.
- Experience integrating sensor hardware and working with vendor SDKs, protocols, detection or track messages, networked systems and lab or field testing.
- The ability to move between algorithms, software, networking and hardware and drive ambiguous end-to-end problems to root cause.
- A hands-on mindset, clear communication and the determination to make the complete ground-sensor system work reliably outside the lab.
