Mechanical Engineering Service Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Service Manager to oversee mechanical engineering, equipment maintenance, repair and technical service activities for our projects and operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical guidance, troubleshooting complex mechanical issues, supervising technical personnel, and ensuring mechanical works are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and oversee mechanical engineering service, installation, maintenance and repair works.
• Inspect, diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical equipment faults and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
• Provide technical guidance and support to technicians and site personnel on mechanical-related matters.
• Supervise and coordinate the daily work of technicians, mechanics and other technical personnel.
• Monitor the installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programmes to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
• Conduct site inspections to assess equipment condition, identify technical issues and follow up on rectification works.
• Coordinate mechanical works with Project Managers, Site Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and other relevant parties.
• Review technical specifications, equipment requirements and maintenance procedures.
• Monitor repair and maintenance schedules and ensure works are completed within the required timeframe.
• Provide solutions for complex mechanical problems encountered at project sites.
• Ensure mechanical works comply with company procedures, project requirements and applicable workplace safety standards.
• Monitor spare parts, tools and equipment requirements and coordinate procurement when necessary.
• Maintain proper service, maintenance, repair and equipment records.
• Prepare technical reports and provide updates to management on equipment condition, breakdowns and maintenance activities.
• Train, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and workers.
• Carry out other mechanical engineering and technical duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on experience in mechanical engineering, equipment servicing, maintenance, installation and troubleshooting.
• Strong practical knowledge of mechanical equipment, machinery and mechanical systems.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing mechanical faults.
• Experience supervising and providing technical guidance to technicians and site personnel.
• Able to coordinate mechanical works independently and manage multiple site requirements.
• Good understanding of preventive maintenance and equipment servicing procedures.
• Able to work in construction/project site environments when required.
• Strong communication, coordination and leadership skills.
• Relevant technical or mechanical engineering experience is essential.
• Candidates with more than 15 years of relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal academic qualifications.
