Special Needs Teacher
Job Description
- Provide home visit lessons for a Cambridge Primary student.
- Teach according to the assigned subject: English, Mathematics, or Science.
- Prepare and deliver lessons based on the Cambridge Primary Curriculum and the student’s learning needs.
- Adapt teaching methods and activities according to the student’s abilities, characteristics, and responses.
- Support the student’s academic development, focus, independence, and learning skills.
- Follow Sinergia Homeschooling’s academic guidelines, learning objectives, and teaching direction.
- Coordinate with the Academic/Primary Team regarding lesson plans, student progress, and any challenges during the learning process.
- Do not make significant changes to the learning materials, targets, or program independently without prior coordination with the academic team.
- Prepare a Student Report regularly covering the student’s progress, achievements, and areas for further development.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree (S1) in English Education, English Literature, Science Education, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Elementary Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, with experience working with children with special needs.
- Experience teaching the Cambridge Primary Curriculum in the relevant subject: English, Mathematics, or Science.
- Strong command of English, both spoken and written.
- Able to explain academic concepts clearly and adapt lessons to the student's learning level and needs.
- Experience in home tutoring / private tutoring is preferred.
- Patient, calm, observant, flexible, and able to build a positive relationship with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Creative in developing engaging learning activities while staying aligned with the learning objectives.
- Able to work collaboratively with the Sinergia Academic/Primary Team and open to feedback.
- Willing to follow Sinergia Homeschooling's academic guidelines, learning objectives, and teaching direction.
- Willing to conduct home visits in Puri, West Jakarta.
- Available for a part-time teaching schedule based on the student's schedule.
Special Needs Requirement
- Minimum 2 years of experience teaching or working with children with special needs.
- Able to adapt teaching methods, learning materials, and communication approaches according to the student's individual needs.
- Patient and empathetic when working with students who may have difficulties with focus, communication, behaviour, or learning.
- Able to create a safe, supportive, structured, and comfortable learning environment.
- Experience or knowledge of ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties, speech delay, or other special educational needs is a plus.
- Experience working with parents, therapists, psychologists, or other professionals is a plus.
