About the company

Join an innovative, fast-growing company specializing in B2B SaaS solutions for intelligent mobility, based in Rennes and composed of about thirty employees. PYSAE develops software to make public transport more efficient and attractive. We support more than 100 clients, including major operators such as Transdev, Keolis, or RATP, and equip more than 10,000 buses in mainland France, DOM-TOM, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.

Your tasks

Your Mission You will take charge of the PYSAE technical team: seven people, developers of different specialties and DevOps profiles, including both permanent employees and contractors. Your role is to maintain a high-performing, proactive, autonomous team aligned with the company's Product ambitions, while structuring collaboration with the company's other teams.

Our way of developing is undergoing a major transformation: generative AI has scaled the team's productivity. Your mission is to support this dynamic: helping the team continue to progress, fully exploiting the gains from this technology, and building the processes that allow for speed without losing control or knowledge of our system. This is the condition for supporting PYSAE's ambitious Product strategy.

This position is primarily a management and steering role, but also involves client and partner contact: generative AI allows contributors to take a higher-level view of subjects, so it is essential that the team manager remains in contact with the field. It is aimed at someone who finds their energy in making a team succeed and delivering projects that matter to demanding clients. Technical expertise is a real asset for engaging on equal footing with the team, but the goal is not to code or to be the best technical expert in the room.

Technical Team Management

  • Supervise, lead, and grow a team of 7 people, including permanent employees and contractors
  • Ensure individual follow-up for each member: objectives, skill development, feedback, recruitment
  • Create a working environment where the team is autonomous, empowered, and motivated, within a context of rapidly evolving practices
  • Report to the COO with the appropriate level of detail and frequency

Generative AI & Engineering Processes

  • Support the team in the daily use of generative AI and capitalize on productivity gains
  • Build and evolve development processes adapted to these new ways of working (reviews, quality, documentation, delivery)
  • Guarantee that the team maintains control and knowledge of our system, despite the acceleration enabled by AI
  • Share best practices and encourage reasoned experimentation

Technical Project Management

  • Manage technical projects from end to end: scoping, planning, monitoring, risk management, delivery
  • Arbitrate technical priorities and monitor the team's workload in connection with the Product and Operations teams
  • Ensure communication on progress to internal and external stakeholders

Client Proximity & Domain Knowledge

  • Meet with clients and users to understand their usage and expectations
  • Build knowledge of the public transport domain, complementing that of the Product team
  • Bridge the gap between field needs and technical choices, providing the engineering perspective
  • Contribute to technical exchanges with clients and partners when necessary

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work in close collaboration with Product and Operations managers (who, like you, report to the COO) for prioritization, field feedback, and inter-team processes
  • Contribute to the product strategy by providing insight into feasibility, costs, and technical risks

Requirements

Your Profile

  • 7 to 12 years of experience, including significant experience managing technical teams, ideally within a software publisher
  • Ability to manage various technical profiles, including contractors, and to unite a mixed team
  • Proven experience in technical project management (scoping, steering, delivery)
  • Real proximity to clients and a desire to understand the business domain, with the ability to maintain perspective
  • Good technical culture allowing you to engage with developers and challenge their choices; technical expertise is a plus
  • Genuine interest in generative AI and its impact on engineering professions; concrete experience in supporting teams on this subject is a major plus
  • Autonomous and reliable: you must be able to be trusted within your scope; you know when, how, and to whom to report
  • Versatile and adaptable: you know how to evolve your priorities in an agile structure where roles are not fixed
  • Excellent communication skills, with both technical and non-technical interlocutors
  • Fluent English

Technical Context

  • Infrastructure & Ops: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Datadog, Linux, Docker
  • Back-end & Data: Python (FastAPI), Node.js, MongoDB, SQL, Redis
  • Front-end & Mobile: Vue.js, Android natif (Java) & Web hybride (Vue.js / Capacitor)
  • AI Productivity: Industrial use of Claude (assisted coding, documentation, automation)
