Operations Executive (Commodity Trading)

Your tasks

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily commodity trading operations, including purchases, sales, shipments and deliveries.
• Liaise with suppliers, buyers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, warehouses and inspection companies.
• Arrange shipment bookings, cargo loading, inspections and customs clearance.
• Prepare and verify shipping documents, including Bills of Lading (BL), commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, weight and quality certificates.
• Monitor shipment schedules, cargo movements and warehouse inventory.
• Coordinate trade finance documentation for Letters of Credit (LC), Documentary Collections (D/P, D/A) and financing arrangements.
• Follow up on payments, shipping document submissions and cargo releases.
• Maintain accurate shipment records, operational cost reports and transaction files.
• Monitor freight, storage, demurrage and detention charges to minimise unnecessary costs.
• Resolve operational issues promptly and provide regular shipment updates to management.

Maintain accurate documentation and coordinate effectively with internal and external parties to ensure smooth and timely execution of commodity trading transactions.

Requirements

Job Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business or a related discipline.
• Preferably 2–3 years of experience in commodity trading operations, shipping or logistics.
• Familiarity with international shipping documentation and Incoterms.
• Knowledge of LC, D/P and trade finance procedures is an advantage.
• Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Detail-oriented, organised and able to handle multiple shipments and deadlines.
• Able to work independently and follow up proactively with external parties.
