DC Onsite Engineer
Job Title: DC Onsite Engineer / Data Center Hardware Specialist Job Description:
- Manage daily 24/7 onsite Data Center operations to ensure continuous availability and proper functioning of physical infrastructure.
- Perform regular surveillance and physical monitoring of Data Hall equipment, including server/network device connections and power supply links.
- Monitor server and network hardware health indicators and ambient environment conditions.
- Complete standardized daily operational monitoring checklists and conduct routine physical inspection walkthroughs.
- Immediately respond to physical Data Center alerts, email notifications, and team chat notifications.
- Execute hands-on troubleshooting, physical maintenance, hardware installations, rack mounting, and structured cabling within the Data Center.
- Provide "Smart Hands" support for Remote Engineers, including physical reboots, port testing, cable patching/unplugging, and SFP replacements based on ticket instructions.
- Escalate unresolved physical or technical incidents to the Onsite Lead or Data Center Manager following standard escalation procedures.
Requirements:
- Education: Minimum Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience as a Technical Engineer, Data Center Operations Staff, or Hardware Support Specialist.
- Language: Functional English literacy (spoken and written) for technical communication.
- Work Schedule: Willingness to work in a 24/7 rotational shift system (Morning / Night / Off).
- Data Center Concepts: Strong knowledge of Data Center physical operations, rack management, server/network components, cables, SFPs, and patch panels.
- Facilities & Environment: Basic understanding of Data Center power and cooling infrastructure (rPDU, CRAC/HVAC, UPS, and Backup Generators).
- Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to read device/cable labels accurately, locate specific hardware ports quickly, identify alarm LEDs, and perform basic physical reboots or cable swaps per remote engineer instructions.
