Responsible for product selection and end-to-end development of locally produced women's apparel. Select sample garments from various channels, evaluate their potential to become bestsellers in the local market, and manage the entire process from sample sourcing, fabric/trim sourcing, sample development, and Tech Pack creation to costing and factory handoff.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Selection and Market Evaluation
- Select sample garments from various channels, including suppliers, markets, and online references.
- Evaluate the potential of products to become bestsellers in the Indonesian local market.
- Assess style, fabrics/trims, fit, silhouette, price range, and overall commercial appeal.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of product ideas and sample references for women's dresses and related apparel.
- End-to-End Product Development
- Manage the entire development process from sample sourcing to production readiness.
- Source fabrics and trims in the local market and coordinate with suppliers.
- Oversee sample development, including fit adjustments, comments, and revisions.
- Create and maintain comprehensive Tech Packs, including measurements, BOM, construction details, and workmanship requirements.
- Ensure approved samples, specifications, and development records are complete before production handoff.
- Costing and Efficiency
- Prepare and review cost sheets, quotations, and material consumption.
- Optimize processes, adjust material usage, and reduce unnecessary steps while maintaining price competitiveness and product quality.
- Support negotiations with factories and suppliers on price, MOQ, lead time, and development timelines.
- Factory Liaison and Production Coordination
- Act as the bridge between the company and garment factories.
- Clearly communicate fit adjustments, technical challenges, and production schedules.
- Follow up on sampling, trial orders, and pre-production approvals.
- Coordinate with QC and production teams to resolve development and bulk production issues.
- Support the transition from development to bulk production through clear documentation and approved specifications.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Reporting
- Work with design, QC, production, and sourcing teams to align product requirements.
- Maintain development trackers, sample comments, cost sheets, BOMs, and Tech Packs.
- Report on sample status, costing progress, factory feedback, and potential risks.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in apparel merchandising, product development, sourcing, or related roles.
- Experience with women's apparel, especially dresses.
- Familiar with woven and knit garment processes.
- Able to understand samples, patterns, size charts, BOM, Tech Packs, and workmanship requirements.
- Experience in costing, negotiation, and cost management.
- Familiar with local garment factories, fabric/trim suppliers, and markets.
- Able to travel frequently to factories and local markets.
- Able to communicate in English for work purposes.
