Senior Database Specialist

Your tasks

We are looking for an experienced Database Specialist / Database Engineer to lead and support large-scale database migration initiatives, focusing on Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL / Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL within an enterprise environment.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead end-to-end database migration, from assessment and planning to execution, go-live, and post-migration stabilization.
2. Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, execution-plan analysis, and parameter tuning.
3. Troubleshoot database issues across SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
4. Analyze and resolve compatibility differences between database engines, including data types, transactions, isolation levels, and query behavior.
5. Monitor database performance using AWS tools such as CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and Database Insights.
6. Diagnose application-generated queries involving .NET / .NET Core, Entity Framework Core, and Npgsql.
7. Provide technical guidance, documentation, and recommendations to customer, development, and operations teams.

1. 7+ years of experience as a Database Engineer, DBA, or Database Consultant.
2. At least 3 years of experience in cross-engine database migration projects.
3. Proven experience leading at least one large-scale, multi-TB SQL Server-to-PostgreSQL migration, including go-live and stabilization.
4. Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server / Azure SQL, including T-SQL, execution plans.
5. Change Tracking/CDC, and Azure SQL Database limitations.
6. Strong expertise in PostgreSQL / Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, including query planning, indexing, VACUUM/ANALYZE, statistics, and performance tuning.
7. Solid knowledge of AWS Aurora PostgreSQL, RDS Proxy, Amazon EKS, CloudWatch, and AWS database authentication/security.
8. Working knowledge of Entity Framework Core and Npgsql to diagnose ORM-generated queries and recommend application-to-database performance improvements.
9. Excellent technical communication in Bahasa Indonesia and English, both written and spoken.

⭐ Nice to Have: AWS database or solutions architecture certification, Aurora Query Plan Management, high-volume OLTP/batch workload tuning, and experience in banking, automotive, or enterprise environments. 🎯 Ideal Candidate: A hands-on database expert who can lead complex migrations, resolve cross-engine compatibility challenges, and deliver reliable, high-performance database solutions.
