Process Engineer (Pilot Plant)
Your tasks
- Evaluate and optimize batch pyrolysis processes to improve TPO quality, product consistency, and production efficiency.
- Analyze TPO laboratory test results against customer specifications and identify critical quality gaps.
- Conduct root cause analysis of product quality issues related to feedstock characteristics, reactor operating conditions, condensation systems, contamination, and downstream processing.
- Develop and execute controlled process trials to improve product quality while maintaining acceptable oil yield and operating costs.
- Evaluate opportunities for downstream oil upgrading, including filtration, distillation, and other suitable purification processes.
- Monitor key process parameters, product yield, mass balance, energy consumption, and production performance.
- Establish and improve operating procedures, process control standards, and quality monitoring systems.
- Work closely with production operators, maintenance personnel, laboratory teams, and HSE to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.
- Prepare technical reports and recommend process modifications, equipment improvements, and investment requirements where necessary.
- Support the development of technical capabilities and operating discipline within the plant team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in process engineering, thermal processing, pyrolysis, hydrocarbon processing, or related industries.
- Hands-on experience in tyre pyrolysis, waste tire recycling, or pyrolysis oil quality improvement is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of batch reactor operations, heat transfer, condensation systems, and process troubleshooting.
- Experience interpreting laboratory results for hydrocarbon products, including viscosity, density, water content, sulfur content, flash point, and distillation characteristics, as relevant to product specifications.
- Knowledge of oil upgrading and purification technologies, such as filtration, distillation, and sulfur reduction.
- Proven ability to conduct root cause analysis, mass balance calculations, process optimization, and controlled technical trials.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.
- Familiarity with process safety, hazardous materials handling, and environmental compliance.
