Junior Vehicle Build Technician

PROJECT 88 | Full-time | 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The Role

Start your career building and restoring classic Series Land Rovers and Defenders at PROJECT 88. You’ll work alongside an experienced team, learning the skills and standards needed to help bring each vehicle from donor condition to finished build.

You don’t need previous Land Rover experience. We’re looking for someone practical, curious and reliable, who takes pride in doing a job properly and is keen to develop their mechanical skills.

What You’ll Be Doing

With support from experienced technicians, you’ll:

• Help strip donor vehicles and label, organise and catalogue components
• Clean and assess parts, reporting damage or wear to the team
• Assist with chassis, suspension and drivetrain builds
• Help assemble bodywork after paint
• Install pre-made wiring looms and fit trim, lights and galvanised components
• Keep build notes and records up to date
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop
• Ad-hoc driving to suppliers and our other facility

As your skills develop, you’ll take on more responsibility and work towards completing tasks independently.

What We’re Looking For

• A genuine interest in vehicle mechanics and classic vehicles
• Some practical experience, whether from work, training or personal projects
• A methodical approach and good attention to detail
• Reliability, willingness to learn and the ability to work well in a team
• Pride in your work and care for tools, parts and the workshop

Welding or fabrication experience, a vehicle-mechanics qualification, a City & Guilds Automotive qualification and a driving licence are welcome, but not essential.
