Mechanical Engineer
/Mechanical Fitter Pro-Found Recruitment Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer/ Mechanical Fitter to join our client based in the DN12 area of Rotherham. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on mechanical engineer with strong fitting, installation, maintenance and fault-finding experience to join an established manufacturing business. Location: Denaby Main - DN12 Salary: Negotiable Temporary - approx. 6 weeks Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 12 noon - 40 hours per week The Role Working within a busy industrial manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for the mechanical fitting, installation, maintenance and repair of plant and machinery across the site. You'll be a practical, hands-on engineer who is confident stripping down, repairing, fitting and installing mechanical equipment and identifying faults to keep production running efficiently. Key responsibilities will include: Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance. Mechanical fitting, assembly and installation of machinery and plant. Stripping down, repairing and rebuilding mechanical equipment. Mechanical fault-finding and diagnosing equipment breakdowns. Installing and replacing mechanical components. Working with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts and associated mechanical equipment. Carrying out alignment, adjustment and installation work. Supporting machinery modifications and improvement projects. Fabrication and basic welding work where required. Identifying potential mechanical issues and carrying out preventative repairs. Working closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime. Completing maintenance records and documentation. Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures.
Criteria We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer/Fitter with experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or heavy engineering environment. You'll ideally have: Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar. Strong practical mechanical fitting and installation skills. Experience stripping, fitting, assembling and repairing industrial machinery. Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability. Experience working with mechanical plant and production equipment. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings. Good knowledge of mechanical components and maintenance practices. A practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail. Strong commitment to health and safety. Relevant engineering qualifications would be advantageous. Experience within refractories, steel, foundry, manufacturing, heavy engineering or other industrial environments would be particularly beneficial.
