Candidate Screening Assistant
Your tasks
Summary Your work starts with a candidate who has applied and needs a short screening call. You ask basic fit questions, note the answers, and help the candidate understand the next step. Candidate lists and approved question guides give you a clear starting point for each conversation. Your goal is to help suitable candidates move smoothly from that first call to a booked interview. A recruiting team lead guides your work and helps with questions outside the approved information. You will work from home in this fully remote role, supporting candidates and the recruiting team by phone. The role pays a monthly base salary plus bonus opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
- Open the candidate list in an applicant tracking system such as Workable. Review the recruiter's basic screening questions and plan your calls.
- Call applicants through a business phone system or dialer such as JustCall. Introduce yourself and explain the call's purpose politely.
- Ask approved questions about interest, availability, a quiet workspace, and spoken English. Listen carefully and write clear answers without guessing.
- Explain the next step in simple words. Answer basic questions using approved information, and send other questions to the recruiting team lead.
- Use the recruiter's clear rules to mark candidates as ready, not now, or not a fit. Record the reason for each result.
- Book ready candidates with recruiters using a scheduling and calendar tool such as Google Calendar. Confirm the interview date and time before ending the call.
- Send a short reminder before each interview. Call candidates who miss their interviews and help arrange another booking when appropriate.
- Record each call result, answers, and next step. Keep candidate details private and mark wrong numbers, duplicate entries, and withdrawals clearly.
- Share complete screening notes with the recruiter before the interview. Flag missing answers so the recruiter knows what still needs clarification.
- Meet quality standards through accurate notes, polite calls, correct bookings, and quick follow-up. Use feedback to improve the next candidate's experience.
Requirements
- Professional spoken and written English, because calls are generally with candidates and teams in the United States.
- A computer, a mobile phone, a stable internet connection, and reliable electricity.

- A calm, friendly phone voice and the ability to explain screening questions in simple words.
- Careful listening and the ability to write short, factual notes while following an approved question guide.
- Willingness to learn the named applicant tracking, phone, and calendar tools through practice and feedback.
- Basic understanding of how candidates move from an application through screening to an interview with a recruiter.
- Care with names, interview dates, screening answers, and candidate stages, plus respect for candidate privacy.
- Comfort asking for guidance when an answer is unclear or a candidate needs information beyond your instructions.
