Candidate Interviewer
Your tasks
Summary Follow one candidate through a short phone interview, clear notes, and an agreed next step. Applications enter candidate lists that recruiters share for you to review and call. You hold structured conversations, record scored answers, and arrange further interviews when the recruiter's rules allow. Your goal is to help candidates understand the process and give recruiters useful information from each conversation. A recruiting team lead explains the interview guide and reviews questions that need more support. This position keeps your work fully remote, allowing you to work from home throughout each candidate's journey. The role pays a monthly base salary plus bonus opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
- Review incoming candidate lists in an applicant tracking system such as Lever, a system for organizing applications and interview notes. Plan which candidates to call first.
- Call each applicant using a business phone system or dialer such as Aircall, a tool for making candidate calls. Introduce yourself and explain the conversation's purpose.
- Hold short, structured phone interviews using approved questions about interest, availability, workspace, and spoken English. Give candidates time to answer.
- Record scored notes against the recruiter's basic fit guide. Mark each candidate's next stage using those rules, not personal opinions.
- Explain the next step in simple words. Answer questions using approved information, and pass unfamiliar questions to the recruiting team lead.
- Arrange the next interview using a scheduling and calendar tool such as Calendly, which helps candidates choose available interview times.
- Confirm the interview date, time, and agreed contact method before ending the conversation. Check that the candidate understands the arrangements.
- Send a short reminder before the interview. Call candidates who miss their interview and help arrange another suitable time.
- Save each call result, scored answers, and next action. Share completed notes with the recruiter before the next interview takes place.
- Keep candidate details tidy and private. Mark wrong numbers, repeated entries, and withdrawals so later calls follow the correct information.
- Meet quality standards through accurate scored notes, polite conversations, correct bookings, and prompt follow-up. Review feedback and apply corrections to later calls.
Requirements
- Professional spoken and written English, because calls are generally with candidates and teams in the United States.
- A computer, a mobile phone, a stable internet connection, and reliable electricity.
- No recruiting experience required. Phone interviewing, customer service, scheduling, or administrative experience is preferred.
- A calm, friendly phone voice and the ability to explain one question at a time without rushing candidates.
- Willingness to learn the named application, calling, and calendar tools through guided practice and feedback.
- Ability to follow a structured interview guide and score answers using the recruiter's stated criteria.
- Care when entering answers, dates, and interview details, with a habit of checking entries before saving.
- Respect for candidate privacy and the ability to share interview notes only with the appropriate recruiting contacts.
- Clear written messages that help candidates understand reminders, interview arrangements, and any changes to their next step.
What we offer
- Fully remote work from home, with candidate conversations and interview arrangements handled through the named tools.
- Structured onboarding and training on the named tools, interview questions, scoring guide, and booking process.
- Regular check-ins with the team lead to review calls, ask questions, and discuss practical improvements.
- Growth opportunities within the team as you build phone interviewing, candidate screening, and interview coordination skills.
