Engineer - Melt Shop Technology
WHAT ARE MY TASKS?
In our Technology & Innovation department (UP CE CCM TI), we are looking for a metallurgist for the following demanding key tasks:
- Worldwide support during the commissioning of new continuous casting plants until the verification of the corresponding process guarantees and product properties
- Participation in casting simulations in advance
- Verification of parameter setpoints, evaluation, comparison, and feedback to operations and product quality
- Problem solving, optimization, and fine-tuning of parameters
- Definition of the performance test program (quality, format, speed, and schedule)
- Execution of the performance test together with customers, monitoring and data collection, evaluation of the performance test and discussion, improvements, and implementation of new casting parameters
- Training of customers in technological and metallurgical topics
- Analysis of plant data for process and product quality optimization
- Processing and solving process technology and/or metallurgical tasks in interdisciplinary teams in an international environment
- Technological support in project acquisition and execution
- Independent discussion and negotiation of technical specifications and guarantees with worldwide operating customers
- Development of creative ideas to revolutionize continuous casting (mechanics, process, digitalization, as well as project-related work and finding individual solutions for each customer (no mass production)
WHAT DO I BRING WITH ME?
- Completed technical studies (e.g., metallurgy, materials science)
- Several years of experience as a metallurgy engineer, or in similar positions, desirable
- Fluent English in speaking and writing
- High willingness to travel (approx. 50%)
- Free access to the Austrian labor market

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?
The gross annual salary according to the collective agreement for this function, upon fulfillment of all requirements, is at least EUR 53,241.02 (F/00) or EUR 62,243.30 (G/00). Depending on education and experience, significant overpayment is possible. Our Pioneers at Heart continuously undergo further training in various areas via the "Metals Academy".
