Assistant Dealership Accountant
Full Time Location: Dartford, Kent Salary: Up to £36,000 per annum, depending on experience Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm Contract: Full Time
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Dealership Accountant to join a busy automotive dealership environment. Working closely with the Group Management Accountant and dealership management team, you will provide accurate and timely accounting support across the dealership. This is a varied role covering management accounts, reconciliations, vehicle accounting, ledgers, reporting and general financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and review of monthly management accounts.
- Analyse departmental performance across New Cars, Used Cars, Aftersales and Parts.
- Process and reconcile bonus payments and finance commissions.
- Prepare vehicle profit reports.
- Reconcile vehicle stock, vehicle debtors and creditors and other key motor-trade control accounts.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare manufacturer and franchise-related financial reporting.
- Assist with sales and purchase ledger activities.
- Prepare regular bank and cash reconciliations.
- Process journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Assist with departmental profit and loss analysis.
- Liaise with dealership and departmental managers regarding financial queries.
- Provide support and advice around cost control, profitability and financial performance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and audit preparation.
- Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and the maintenance and improvement of effective financial controls.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous car dealership or motor trade accounting experience .
- Experience producing management accounts to monthly deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with dealership management and central accounts teams.
- Experience using automotive Dealer Management Systems would be advantageous, particularly CDK/Kerridge or similar systems.
- The ability to analyse financial information and identify discrepancies.
- A proactive and reliable approach to your work.
Training & Development
Full induction and comprehensive training will be provided, including training on the dealership's automotive accounting and management systems.
