Sustainability Specialist

PORTWEST , a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of Sustainability Specialist in Westport, on a full time contract reporting to the Sustainability Programme Manager. Founded in 1904, Portwest has become one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world currently employing over 6,000 staff worldwide. With 1400 styles across more than 20 ranges, we design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities.

JOB SUMMARY: As the Sustainability Specialist, you will be supporting the group's Sustainability strategy and working closely with the global Business Units to implement improvement projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the implementation of the sustainability strategy across the organisation.
• Drive sustainability initiatives across all business locations, monitoring progress against sustainability objectives and targets.
• Oversee sustainability data collection, analysis and reporting, supporting CSRD and ESRS compliance, materiality assessments and sustainability disclosures.
• Monitor Irish, UK and EU environmental and sustainability legislation, regulations and industry standards, providing guidance and recommendations to the business.
• Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of sustainability policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Contribute to carbon reduction and decarbonisation initiatives, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions management.
• Act as a key sustainability partner and subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders
• Analyse and report on key sustainability topics, ESG risks, opportunities and business performance.
• Lead sustainability training, communications and awareness initiatives across the business.
• Manage external sustainability assessments and ratings, including EcoVadis and other recognised frameworks.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum years 2 experience within industry
• Strong understanding of sustainability requirements and best practices.
• Knowledge of CSRD, ESRS and carbon reporting desirable.
• Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and engage effectively with global stakeholders
