Industrial Projects Engineer - Industrial Plant

Job Description:

We are looking for a professional to take on the challenge of managing the construction, implementation, and commissioning of our new industrial plant in Trujillo, participating from engineering and planning to machinery assembly and the start of operations.

You will be responsible for the coordination and monitoring of: the project engineering (civil, electrical, mechanical, sanitary), the budget and work valuations, the general schedule, contractors and suppliers, and the transport, assembly, and installation of machinery and its main industrial supplies (electrical energy, compressed air, water, and refrigeration/chillers systems).

Your mission will be to drive the project forward: anticipating risks, solving technical problems in the field, and constantly seeking alternatives that optimize investment, without compromising safety, quality, functionality, cost, or deadline.

Reporting directly to General Management. Depending on performance and organizational needs, this position can project towards new industrial projects, automation, expansions, and improvement of the company's manufacturing operations.

Main Functions:

• Lead the integral management of the construction and implementation project of the new plant, preparing and updating the general schedule, identifying the critical path and key milestones.
• Control the project budget: review and validate valuations presented by contractors and suppliers, evaluate deviations against what was planned, and propose corrective measures.
• Design and validate the plant layout and production process flows, in coordination with the operations and production areas.
• Define, calculate, and coordinate the installation of necessary industrial supplies (electrical energy, compressed air, water, refrigeration/chillers systems, gas, fire suppression system, among others), reviewing plans and calculation reports of the different specialties.
• Lead the purchase of industrial machinery: prepare technical specifications, quote and negotiate with suppliers, and coordinate the manufacturing, importation, transport, assembly, and installation of the acquired machinery until its commissioning.
• Coordinate with the civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and sanitary engineering teams, as well as with contractors and suppliers, verifying compliance with their contractual commitments, and managing the necessary technical permits and procedures.
• Perform periodic monitoring of the physical progress of the work against the schedule, supervise compliance with quality and safety on site, and report progress, risks, and project status in a timely manner to General Management.

Requirements:

• Professional degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Electrical Engineering, Operations Engineering, or related careers. Civil Engineering is not required nor limited: we seek an integral industrial vision, not just civil works.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading or actively participating in construction, expansion, or implementation projects of industrial plants or warehouses, from the engineering stage to commissioning.
• Concrete experience in project cost and budget control, and in the review and validation of contractor valuations: must be able to identify deviations and support them with figures, not just perform general monitoring.
• Experience in technical specification, quoting, negotiation, purchase, and installation of industrial machinery, including its transport, assembly, and commissioning (not just evaluation on paper, but execution in the field).
• Knowledge of calculation and dimensioning of industrial supplies: electrical energy, compressed air, water, and refrigeration/chillers systems, at a minimum.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams (civil, electrical, mechanical, structural) and managing contractors and suppliers, including the verification of contract compliance.
• Technical and practical judgment to question a technical or commercial proposal, compare solution alternatives, and detect cost overruns, always prioritizing simple and efficient solutions over more complex or expensive ones.
• Proven negotiation capacity (with suppliers and contractors) and agility to make technical decisions under pressure, without the need to escalate every detail.
• Desirable specialization in Project Management (PMI, PMP), Lean Manufacturing, or Industrial Automation.
• Desirable previous experience in the manufacturing, plastics, or flexible packaging sector.
• Intermediate-advanced oral and written English, to coordinate with international machinery suppliers and manufacturers.
• Proficiency in MS Project, advanced Excel, and plant design/layout tools (AutoCAD or others).
• Residence in Trujillo or real availability to relocate to the city during the execution of the project (this is not a remote or occasional position in Trujillo).
• Availability to travel for visits to machinery suppliers and manufacturers.
