Geopolitical and IR Analyst
About the Role: We are building a global network of freelance researchers covering international affairs, geopolitics, and regional security, and are currently hiring a researcher with deep knowledge of the Middle East and North Africa. This is a remote, freelance engagement with flexible hours, ideal for an international relations analyst, graduate student, or independent researcher who wants ongoing project-based work. What You'll Do: Research and write structured briefs and reports on geopolitical, security, and diplomatic developments in the MENA region
Track and summarize policy shifts, regional alliances, and cross-border dynamics (e.g., Gulf-Iran relations, North Africa political transitions, intra-Arab diplomacy)
Verify claims using primary sources (government statements, official documents, credible regional media) rather than relying on secondary summaries
Deliver clear, well-sourced written output on a set schedule (e.g., one brief every 1–2 weeks, timeline to be agreed)
Flag emerging geopolitical developments or shifts in the region worth deeper coverage
Who We're Looking For: Based in or deeply familiar with a MENA country (Gulf states, Levant, North Africa, or broader Arab world), please state your country/sub-region of expertise in your application
Background in international relations, geopolitics, political science, Middle East studies, or a related field (degree or equivalent demonstrated expertise)
Strong written English (Arabic proficiency is a plus, not required)
Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines without close supervision
Prior research, think-tank, journalism, or policy-writing experience preferred but not mandatory if writing samples are strong
Compensation: Market competitive, based on experience and scope of assigned tasks Location: Remote, open to candidates across MENA Type: Freelance / Part-time, ongoing basis
