Director, NPI
Must-have:SeniorLead
Position Summary
Lead the end-to-end NPI and industrialization of photonics products from development to volume manufacturing, driving cross-functional execution with R&D, Engineering, CMs, and OSATs to ensure manufacturing readiness and achieve quality, yield, cost, and timeline targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end NPI strategy and execution for photonics products, from design transfer and process development through qualification and volume ramp.
- Lead cross-functional teams across R&D, product engineering, manufacturing, quality, reliability, supply chain, and operations to ensure timely and successful product launches.
- Partner with CMs and OSATs across Asia to drive NPI builds, process qualification, tooling, manufacturing readiness, yield improvement, and production ramp-up.
- Establish scalable manufacturing and test processes, ensuring product, process, equipment, tooling, and supply chain readiness for volume production.
- Define and track NPI KPIs covering yield, quality, cost, cycle time, and schedule; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve manufacturing and process issues.
- Identify and mitigate technical, supply, quality, and schedule risks; ensure qualification, reliability, audit, and production-readiness requirements are met for product release.
- Build and lead a high-performing NPI organization while developing capabilities in product transfer, process development, manufacturing ramp, and operational excellence.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related technical discipline, with strong knowledge of photonics, optoelectronics, semiconductors, or advanced packaging.
- 15+ years of engineering, manufacturing, operations, or related experience, including 5–8+ years leading NPI programs and production ramps.
- Strong understanding of design transfer, process development, assembly, packaging, testing, qualification, yield ramp, and volume manufacturing.
- Proven experience managing CMs and OSATs, preferably within Asia-based manufacturing environments, including partner selection, qualification, performance management, and ramp-up.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional programs, manage senior stakeholders, drive problem resolution, and deliver products against quality, cost, yield, and time-to-market objectives.
