Practice Audit Manager

This is an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Audit & Accounts Manager to join a growing Corporate Services team within a respected accountancy practice. You will manage a varied portfolio of corporate clients, ensuring the timely and high-quality delivery of audit, accounts preparation, corporation tax and outsourcing services. Alongside managing day-to-day client relationships, you will review work, lead audit assignments and support the development of junior colleagues. You will also work closely with Partners to identify business opportunities, deliver value-added advisory assignments and contribute to the continued development and growth of the practice.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of corporate clients, delivering a responsive, cost-effective and high-quality accounting and audit service.
- Build strong client relationships, becoming a key point of contact for day-to-day queries and liaising with third parties including HMRC.
- Lead audit assignments and review and finalise audit files, statutory accounts and corporation tax work prepared by junior team members.
- Plan, delegate and supervise assignments effectively, ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with quality and compliance standards.
- Manage, coach and develop team members through effective delegation, feedback, appraisals and on-the-job training.
- Monitor client and statutory deadlines, including Companies House filings, group reporting requirements, P11Ds and tax returns.
- Work closely with Partners to manage work in progress (WIP), progress assignments through to completion and support timely billing.
- Identify business development opportunities and assist Partners with value-added projects including business planning, advisory work and audit-related assignments.
Education & Skills Required
- ACA or ACCA qualified, or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant professional experience; FCA or FCCA status would be advantageous.
- Previous post-qualification experience within an audit practice environment, with strong knowledge of audit, accounts preparation and corporate taxation.
- Previous experience of managing and developing staff within an accountancy practice, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
- Strong audit leadership skills, including the ability to efficiently review and complete audit and accounts files to a high professional standard.
- Excellent communication, active listening and problem-solving skills, combined with strong organisation, commercial awareness and client relationship management abilities.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office; experience working with charities and academies would be advantageous.
