Finance Assistant - Sales Ledger

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Finance Assistant to develop their finance career within a supportive and forward-thinking team. You’ll help keep day-to-day financial processes running smoothly, with a particular focus on sales ledger administration, invoicing, reconciliations and credit control. You’ll also provide purchase ledger and wider operational support while helping identify smarter ways of working. Duties & Responsibilities
- Raise sales invoices and ensure the Sales Ledger is accurate, up to date and fully reconciled.
- Receipt and reconcile client purchase orders, while monitoring un-invoiced balances, debtors and landed margin.
- Carry out proactive credit control, including following up overdue payments and preparing and issuing client statements.
- Manage client rebates and support accurate Sales Ledger records and reporting for management.
- Manage the finance inbox, responding to queries promptly and providing a helpful and professional service.
- Provide Purchase Ledger cover when required, including credit card administration and reconciliations.
- Support purchase order approvals and wider finance administration, working collaboratively with colleagues across the business.
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, increase efficiency and make better use of technology, automation and AI.
Education & Skills Required
- Studying towards an AAT qualification, have previous experience in an Accounts Administrator, Finance Assistant or similar role, or be a recent graduate with a relevant degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related subject.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail, accuracy and time management.
- Confident communicator who works well as part of a collaborative team.
- Proactive, reliable and positive, with a willingness to take ownership and find solutions.
- Good computer skills and an interest in digital technology, automation and AI.
- Experience using SAGE or a similar finance system would be advantageous.
Additional Information
- £27,000 salary
- Annual bonus of up to 10%
- Full-time, permanent position, Monday to Friday
- Hybrid working, with Fridays working from home
- 20 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing annually to 25 days
