Infrastructure Engineer (Azure & Hybrid Cloud)

Your tasks

Cloud & Infrastructure Engineering

• Design, implement and maintain hybrid infrastructure environments spanning Microsoft Azure and on-premises systems.
• Manage cloud and virtualised infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, compute resources and connectivity.
• Architect and deploy infrastructure solutions across production, testing, development and disaster recovery environments.
• Administer and optimise Microsoft Azure services, including virtual machines, virtual networking, storage and identity-related infrastructure.
• Manage infrastructure provisioning, configuration, capacity planning, performance tuning and resource optimisation.
• Evaluate and implement IaaS, PaaS and SaaS technologies to support enterprise application requirements.
• Establish infrastructure architecture standards, configuration baselines and technical documentation.
• Review existing infrastructure environments and recommend improvements in scalability, resilience, security and cost efficiency.

Infrastructure Operations & Reliability

• Provide advanced Level 3 technical support for complex infrastructure and cloud-related incidents.
• Troubleshoot issues involving servers, operating systems, virtualisation, networks, storage and cloud services.
• Manage system patching, upgrades, configuration changes and preventive maintenance.
• Implement and maintain backup, replication, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Monitor infrastructure availability, system health, capacity and performance using appropriate monitoring tools.
• Strengthen infrastructure security through access controls, system hardening, patch management and configuration management.
• Maintain infrastructure inventories, technical documentation, configuration records and lifecycle management processes.
• Support incident investigation, root cause analysis and permanent remediation of recurring technical issues.

Infrastructure Projects & Modernisation

• Lead the technical design and implementation of infrastructure upgrades, migrations and platform enhancements.
• Support cloud migration, infrastructure consolidation and modernisation initiatives.
• Design and deploy infrastructure environments for new applications and enterprise systems.
• Assess technical solutions for compatibility, performance, security, availability and long-term maintainability.
• Coordinate technical implementation activities with internal engineering teams and external technology providers.
• Provide technical guidance on infrastructure architecture, deployment standards and operational best practices.

Requirements

Technical Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise IT infrastructure engineering, systems administration, cloud infrastructure or a related technical function.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Azure infrastructure architecture, administration and operations.
• Practical experience designing and supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
• Solid knowledge of virtualisation technologies, server administration, enterprise storage and network infrastructure.
• Experience managing cloud services across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS environments.
• Strong understanding of infrastructure networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls and secure connectivity.
• Hands-on experience with infrastructure monitoring, patch management, backup solutions and disaster recovery.
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues and providing advanced technical support.
• Proven experience delivering infrastructure deployments, upgrades, migrations or system enhancement projects.
• Working knowledge of infrastructure security practices, including identity and access management, system hardening and vulnerability remediation.
• Ability to design and implement infrastructure solutions with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance and cost optimisation.

The following Microsoft certifications are highly preferred

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

Additional Technical Advantages

• Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID and associated Microsoft infrastructure technologies.
• Knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V or equivalent virtualisation platforms.
• Exposure to Azure networking, VPN connectivity, hybrid identity and cloud security configurations.
• Experience with infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Terraform or similar tools.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management and automated deployment practices.
• Understanding of high-availability architecture, infrastructure redundancy and disaster recovery planning.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring platforms, cloud cost optimisation and enterprise IT service management tools.
