Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire Salary: £29,000 - £31,000 per annum (DOE) Hours: 37.5 hours per week Travel: Approximately 50% UK and international travel

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Fall Protection Technologist to join a leading product testing and compliance organisation. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded individual who enjoys a varied role combining laboratory testing, customer interaction, site visits, audits and international travel. Working within a specialist testing team, you will be responsible for coordinating and conducting testing programmes for equipment used in working-at-height environments, ensuring products meet recognised safety, quality and performance standards. This role offers excellent development opportunities, with full training provided where required.

The Role

As a Fall Protection Technologist, your key responsibilities will include:

• Planning and coordinating testing projects for fall protection and safety products.
• Producing detailed technical reports based on testing outcomes.
• Liaising with customers via email, telephone and face-to-face meetings.
• Hosting customer visits and carrying out testing activities both on-site and at customer locations.
• Conducting audits of manufacturing facilities and production control processes.
• Carrying out routine physical testing in accordance with recognised industry standards.
• Operating specialist testing equipment and accurately recording results.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the testing department.
• Contributing to the development of testing procedures, facilities and customer services.
• Working both indoors and outdoors, including occasional work at height.

Products Covered

The role focuses primarily on fall protection equipment, including:

• Safety harnesses
• Lanyards
• Connectors and carabiners
• Anchorage systems
• Height safety equipment
• Other personal protective and safety-related products

Over time, there may also be opportunities to become involved in additional product testing disciplines.

About You

Essential Requirements

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Valid passport and willingness to travel throughout the UK and internationally.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Competent user of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Flexible approach and ability to manage changing priorities.
• Ability and willingness to undertake practical testing activities, including work at height where required.
• Experience dealing directly with customers or clients.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with fall protection or working-at-height equipment.
• Knowledge of safety products and PPE.
• Manufacturing, construction or industrial site experience.
• Factory auditing or inspection experience.
• Understanding of quality management systems and testing standards.
• Knowledge of mechanics, engineering principles or physics.
• Forklift truck experience or certification.
• Previous travel-based or field-based experience.
• Experience within a testing, inspection or laboratory environment.
