Polish Technician
Location: Pontypool Hourly Rate: £16.70 (Inclusive of 15% shift allowance) Shift Pattern: Monday–Friday, rotating weekly Shifts: 06:00–14:00 / 14:00–22:00 Contract: Temporary
Pertemps are currently recruiting for an experienced Polisher to join a specialist automotive manufacturing business in Pontypool.
The Role
As a Polisher, you will be responsible for correcting and finishing painted automotive components to a high standard, ensuring products meet the required quality and aesthetic expectations. Your duties will include:
- Using machine-operated polishers to rectify paint defects
- Hand polishing and finishing where required
- Preparing surfaces and correcting paint defects and contamination
- Identifying and resolving surface imperfections
- Working closely with the paint department to rectify defects
- Following established production processes and build instructions
- Completing quality checks and ensuring high standards are maintained
- Maintaining good housekeeping and hygiene standards
- Working to production deadlines and targets
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and product quality
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in machine polishing, vehicle detailing or automotive finishing
- Experience correcting surface defects and paint contamination
- An understanding of paint finishes and paint thickness
- Experience with external paint detailing and surface finishing
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work to strict deadlines and production targets
- A proactive and positive approach to work
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to follow SOPs and established processes
- An automotive trade qualification in a related discipline, such as machine polishing or vehicle detailing, would be advantageous.
