Marine Underwriter (No Experience Welcome) [ID: 712727]

Responsibilities:

• Underwrite and sustain a profitable portfolio of Marine Hull & Liability business throughout Singapore and Southeast Asia.
• Ensure the team adheres to underwriting authority and guidelines for pricing and terms on both new business and renewals.
• Assist in developing and refining pricing models to establish competitive market prices.
• Compile, analyse, and prepare monthly reports for presentation during business reviews.
• Strengthen account relationships to drive growth in new and existing business through a multi-tiered approach.
• Coordinate account stewardship processes and loss control activities to maintain acceptable loss ratios, while tracking large claims as necessary.
• Evaluate facultative reinsurance needs in alignment with underwriting and risk control guidelines.
• Stay informed on market conditions, competition, and underwriting environments; share relevant findings with the team.
• Cultivate and enhance relationships with intermediaries to support business retention and acquisition; assess client needs and provide tailored insurance solutions.
• Conduct underwriting audits and support the leadership team with additional tasks as required.

Requirements:

• ACII, ANZIIF, or a Degree/Diploma in Insurance, Business, or Maritime with CGI.
• Ideally 1 year of experience in marine insurance underwriting with direct intermediary engagement.
• Understanding of marine insurance operations, underwriting procedures, and familiarity with Marine Hull & Liability classes, products, and policy wordings.
• Basic knowledge of risk assessment, relevant laws, and regulations in the marine insurance sector.
