Business Development Manager
Job Description:
Responsible for developing and expanding the company's construction business by identifying new business opportunities, potential clients and projects. Manages client relationships, follows up on enquiries and tenders, prepares and coordinates quotations and proposals, and works closely with the project, operations and management teams to assess project requirements and commercial opportunities. Monitors market trends, construction projects and competitor activities, attends client and project meetings, negotiates commercial terms where required, and supports the company in securing new contracts and maintaining long-term business relationships.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and potential construction projects .
- Research and monitor construction market trends, upcoming projects and potential clients.
- Develop and maintain relationships with main contractors, subcontractors, developers, consultants and suppliers .
- Follow up on client enquiries, project leads, tenders and business opportunities.
- Review project requirements and coordinate with internal teams to prepare quotations, tenders and proposals .
- Assist in assessing project scope, pricing, commercial requirements and potential business risks.
- Attend meetings with clients, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Negotiate and discuss commercial terms, pricing and contractual requirements where authorised.
- Coordinate with operations, project and management teams to ensure proposed solutions are commercially and operationally feasible.
- Maintain records of leads, quotations, tenders, sales activities and client communications.
- Follow up on submitted quotations and tenders and provide updates to management.
- Monitor competitor activities and market conditions to identify potential opportunities.
- Support contract negotiations, client onboarding and handover of secured projects to the relevant internal teams.
- Maintain good customer relationships and seek opportunities for repeat business and long-term partnerships .
- Prepare regular business development reports and updates for management.
- Perform other business development and commercial duties assigned by management.
Requirements :
- Diploma or Degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in business development, sales or commercial roles within the construction, engineering or related industry.
- Experience in construction tenders, quotations, project sales and client relationship management.
- Good understanding of construction processes, project requirements and commercial considerations.
- Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Good business development and market research capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Able to work independently, manage multiple opportunities and meet deadlines.
- Strong coordination skills and ability to work closely with project, operations and management teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and meet clients when required.
