About the company

PebbleRoad is a Singapore-based strategy, design and innovation practice. We help organisations in their digital transformation journey by aligning their strategic vision, creating digital experiences and building internal capabilities.

We started our practice in 2004 with one objective: to do impactful work. This single-minded pursuit has guided who we hire, who we work for, our work, and our decisions.

We work with clients such as DBS (Singapore), Digi (Malaysia), Sinar Mas (Indonesia), ADB (Philippines), CLP (Hong Kong) and many government agencies in Singapore.

Your tasks

You'll be the senior QA engineer on a Singapore government digital platform built on OutSystems. The agency is building an automated testing ecosystem, and you'll lead its technical setup: a Playwright automation framework, test integration into CI/CD, automated API testing and automated regression suites. This is a hands-on role. You'll write and maintain much of the automation yourself, and work closely with a QA engineer who focuses on day-to-day testing, regression runs and defect management, alongside developers, business analysts and the agency's product owners.

  • Lead the setup and development of a Playwright test automation framework, and write and maintain tests in it yourself
  • Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline, so they run reliably with each build and release
  • Lead automated API testing, from test design to maintained test suites
  • Build and maintain automated regression suites, and keep them stable in nightly and CI builds
  • Develop the automation used for release regression, and review release quality reports
  • Advise developers on unit testing, and guide the QA engineer as they contribute to the automation
  • Support manual feature testing, bug fix verification, defect tracking in Jira and test case documentation
  • Design risk-based test strategies and plan testing for each sprint and release
  • Work with product owners and business analysts to shape clear acceptance criteria for user stories
  • Lead system integration testing with other system owners, and coordinate UAT with stakeholders
  • Support performance and security testing

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in software QA and testing, with recent hands-on test automation work
  • Hands-on experience building and leading test automation with Playwright
  • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (for example GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins)
  • Hands-on experience with API testing, including automated API tests
  • Experience building and maintaining automated regression suites for regular releases
  • Scripting in a language such as JavaScript or TypeScript, Python, Java or C#
  • A Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer or Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Solid grounding in risk-based testing and in manual and automated testing for web, mobile and APIs
  • Comfortable with Agile ways of working (Scrum, Kanban), and with TDD, BDD and shift-left testing
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira or TestRail
  • Clear communicator who works well with both technical and non-technical people, and enjoys helping others grow their automation skills
  • Nice to have: a CSTP or CSQA certification, other automation frameworks (for example Selenium, Robot Framework or Cypress), performance testing (for example JMeter or k6), security testing (for example OWASP ZAP or Burp Suite), testing in Docker or Kubernetes, OutSystems or other low-code platforms, and public-sector experience

What we offer

  • Competitive compensation with performance-based bonuses
  • Medical insurance
  • Support for training and certifications in testing and automation
  • Mission-critical systems used by government agencies
  • A collaborative, low-hierarchy culture that encourages ownership and autonomy

Other

This role supports a Singapore government agency. The agency approves team members and may ask for a technical assessment, an interview and security clearance before you start.
