Junior Concept Architect
Job Summary Role Overview: A creative entry-level role focused on supporting senior architects in transforming project briefs into innovative architectural concepts and high-quality visual presentations.
Key Responsibilities Concept Generation: Participate in brainstorming sessions and develop initial design concepts, diagrams, and sketches.
Research & Mood Boards: Conduct site analyses, architectural research, and compile mood boards to guide the design direction.
3D Modeling: Build accurate 3D massing and volumetric models of building exteriors and interiors.
Architectural Visualization: Produce realistic 3D renderings and walkthroughs to visualize materials, lighting, and spatial layouts.
2D Drafting: Prepare basic preliminary architectural drawings including floor plans, elevations, and sections.
Presentation Prep: Design and assemble compelling presentation decks for client pitches and internal design reviews.
Team Collaboration: Assist senior designers and coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure concept feasibility.
Required Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a closely related design field.
Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience, backed by a strong design and visualization portfolio.
3D & Rendering Tools: Proficiency in 3ds Max, Rhino, or SketchUp , paired with engines like V-Ray, Corona, or Lumion .
2D & Production Software: Competency in AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Photoshop, and InDesign .
Design Sense: Strong eye for aesthetics, proportions, contemporary design trends, and spatial planning.
Soft Skills: Good communication skills for design storytelling, adaptability to feedback, and strong teamwork habits.
Education & Experience Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Environmental Design from an accredited university.
Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience in an architectural firm or design studio (fresh graduates with strong portfolios are welcome).
Portfolio: A compulsory design portfolio demonstrating strong conceptual thinking, 3D modeling skills, and realistic rendering capabilities.
Technical & Software Skills 3D Modeling: Advanced proficiency in Rhino, 3ds Max, or SketchUp for creating complex geometries and masses.
Rendering & Visualization: Experience with rendering engines like V-Ray, Corona, Lumion, or Enscape to produce photo-realistic imagery.
Drafting & BIM: Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit for translating concepts into accurate 2D plans and spatial layouts.
Post-Production & Layouts: Mastery of Adobe Photoshop (for render enhancements) and Adobe InDesign (for creating presentation decks and mood boards).
Design & Core Competencies Conceptual Thinking: Ability to understand a design brief and translate abstract ideas into functional architectural forms.
Research Skills: Capability to perform comprehensive site analyses , zoning research, and historical/cultural context studies.
Material & Scale Awareness: Basic understanding of architectural proportions, spatial flow, building materials, and lighting behaviors.
Design Trends: Active awareness of contemporary global architecture, sustainable design practices, and emerging technologies.
Soft Skills & Workplace Attributes Design Storytelling: Ability to clearly explain the "idea" or narrative behind a design to team members and seniors.
Feedback Adaptability: High openness to constructive criticism and the agility to quickly iterate or change design directions based on feedback.
