Help build a new department from the ground up

Production Technical Leader with a focus on maturing the development department's work and making it ready for production

Mayekawa Nordic A/S has once again asked us to find the right person for a central role in the company. They are looking for a Production Technical Leader who thrives at the intersection of development, production, and people.

Mayekawa Nordic A/S is based in Middelfart and serves as the Nordic development center for the Japanese group Mayekawa. The company develops industrial refrigeration systems and heat pumps and is particularly known for the mCHILLER series, which uses the natural refrigerant ammonia and thereby achieves high energy efficiency and sustainability.

A completely new Industrialization department is to be built up in Middelfart, and you are the one who will do it. In collaboration with the Development Director, you will determine what the department needs to be capable of, and you will build the systems for it. You will take the long meetings and negotiations with development and production on how things can be done better, and you will set the direction for how the development work is matured and handed over to production, and you will contribute to the execution of the work. It is a role with responsibility and leadership, where you are personally involved in the technical execution.

The department will bridge the gap between development and production. And with a production unit in Serbia, which you will have a part to do with, you should expect up to 50 travel days per year.

There will be two of you in the department: yourself as lead and a Production Technical Supporter, and together you will form the foundation of Mayekawa's Industrialization department.

Responsibilities In collaboration with Mayekawa Nordic's management, you will build the department from the ground up and find, develop, and set the framework for how it should operate.

The responsibility will lie with you from day one, and reporting to the Danish Development Director, your tasks include:

  • Building the department's workflows and processes.
  • Ensuring the department provides thorough maturation of products so they can move safely from development to production.
  • Contact with the three stakeholders: development in Denmark, parent company in Japan, and production in Serbia.
  • Sourcing agreements in collaboration with strategic procurement.

Tasks You will have daily responsibility for ensuring tasks are completed, and you will be personally involved in the technical work, part of which also lies on the strategic level:

  • CAD automation across product families and variants.
  • Product variant engineering and assessment of what changes affect.
  • Design-for-assembly improvements.
  • Integration of quality assurance into the development processes.
  • Development of systems for generating customer documentation packages.
  • Integration of new product features into existing product lines.

Professional competencies You have a background as a production engineer, chief engineer (maskinmester), production technologist, or something similar. Most importantly, you have stood at the intersection of development and production before and know where frictions can arise in practice. If you have leadership experience, that is fine. If you do not, but have the desire to step into a leadership role, that is equally fine.

The department must collectively cover a range of technical areas. Since you will be the first person in the department, we expect that you already have a solid technical foundation and can cover several of the areas from the beginning. This includes Vault and Inventor, including automation and workflows, mechanical design and assembly processes, knowledge of production technology, and experience with ERP and PDM systems. Knowledge of welding, sheet metal processing, piping, and fittings is an advantage.

Personal competencies You are a person who takes responsibility and is proactive regarding both relationships and knowledge, and you do not wait for someone to ask you for something. You take the lead when required and understand how to give space to others when they need to step up.

You have the drive to build systems, improve them, and keep them running. You finish tasks rather than rushing on to the next ones. And you can find your way in an organization that is not yet structured. Because that is exactly what you will be doing: creating the structure that does not exist yet.

It will be an advantage if you have an interest in or experience with working in an international environment, with relationships and contacts outside the country's borders. Therefore, it is also essential that you speak English at a high level.

Mayekawa Nordic offers

  • An exciting and independent job with great freedom in the execution of tasks and good opportunities for both personal and professional development.
  • You will be part of a dynamic and engaged team, where there is an informal tone and a good atmosphere.
  • An attractive salary package, including a pension scheme and health insurance.
  • Flexible working hours that match your travel activities.
  • Opportunity for working from home.

Your primary workplace will be at the office in Middelfart.

Are you the one to build the department? Can you see yourself leading something that does not exist yet, and having your hands in the technical work along the way? Then we would like to hear from you.

Practical matters The optimal start date is October 1, 2026, but the right candidate means more than the date, so we are happy to wait. Therefore, there is no fixed application deadline.

We hold interviews continuously and conclude the process when we have found the right person.

If you want to join, just send your application.
