Shift Manager

Manage generating unit operations and maintenance activities. Manage the deployment of operational resources on shift to meet dispatch requirements. Ensure unit is operated in a safe, efficient and timely manner in accordance with established operational guidelines and to meet output requirements. Ensure unit performance is closely monitored and maximum unit efficiency is maintained in operations. Ensure plant reliability and availability targets are met through continual reviewing and monitoring of performance. Ensure all system, plant and equipment defects are identified, reported on and rectified. The latter activity to be coordinated with Team Leader (Maintenance). Coordinate daily activities; provide direction to team members as required. Issue Permits to Work, including ensuring proper certification for safety endorsements promptly. Carry out EHV switching or isolation/normalization in conjunction with PSO and authorized Electrical Maintenance engineers for EHV works. Examine and inspect work progress and equipment to verify safety and ensure that specifications are met. Patrol and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment in order to detect and pre-empt unsafe conditions or violations of procedures or safety rules. Explain and demonstrate work tasks to new workers or assign new workers to experienced workers for further training. Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, and customer services. Communicate with PSO on operation non-conformances, permission to synchronize or de-synchronize units, generating units’ trips, sudden load limitation on specific generating units etc. Liaise with Energy Trader on daily plant operations Prepare daily shift log reports and all other operational reports e.g. trip reports for internal and PSO etc. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or equivalent qualifications, with good working knowledge of steam, gas turbines, as well as safety, and statutory requirements. College degree may be waived if equivalent, extensive related experience can be demonstrated. Candidates should ideally possess at least eight (8) years to ten (10) of relevant experience, of which three (3) years are at a supervisory level, preferably in Power Plants or related industries. Those with 1st Grade Engineer (Steam) Certificate of Competency, or 1stGrade Engineer (Steam Combustion Engine) Certificate of Competency awarded by Ministry of Manpower are high preferred. Possess good management and leadership quality, self-motivated and independent, and has strong analytical and communication skills. Possess good working knowledge of steam and gas turbines and safety and statutory requirements. Strong ability to add value in all processes and systems. Available on standby after office hours for emergency calls to ensure a continuous supply of utilities. This role requires the ability to accurately identify colour, read and comprehend technical documents, and safely operate equipment and machinery. Working location: Jurong Island Must be able to work on 12-hour rotating shifts (10am to 10pm and/or 10 pm to10am)
