We are seeking an experienced, responsible, and hands-on General Manager to independently manage and oversee all aspects of our privately owned gas station. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of experience independently managing a gas station, with comprehensive knowledge of fuel operations, business management, licensing, permits, regulatory compliance, staff supervision, inventory control, customer service, and financial reporting.

The General Manager will be responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the gas station, ensuring smooth business operations, legal compliance, profitability, and excellent customer service with minimal supervision from the owner.

Key Responsibilities1. Overall Gas Station Operations

  • Independently manage all daily operations of the gas station.
  • Ensure the station operates efficiently, safely, and in accordance with company policies.
  • Oversee fuel dispensing, convenience store operations, equipment functionality, and general site maintenance.
  • Open and close the station as required and ensure proper shift handovers.
  • Handle operational issues and resolve problems independently.
  1. Licences, Permits and Regulatory Compliance
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all licences, permits, registrations, inspections, and regulatory requirements applicable to the gas station.
  • Ensure all required business, fuel-related, environmental, fire safety, occupational health and safety, and other applicable approvals remain valid and up to date.
  • Monitor renewal dates and coordinate timely renewals, inspections, and required documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable municipal, provincial, and federal laws.
  • Coordinate with government authorities, inspectors, fuel suppliers, and other regulatory agencies as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable fuel-handling, environmental protection, emergency response, and workplace safety requirements.
  1. Staff Management and Supervision
  • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate employees.
  • Prepare staff schedules and ensure adequate staffing for all operating hours.
  • Monitor employee attendance, performance, conduct, and productivity.
  • Ensure employees follow company procedures, safety policies, and customer service standards.
  • Handle employee concerns, workplace issues, and disciplinary matters professionally.
  1. Financial Management and Reporting
  • Monitor daily sales, fuel sales, convenience store sales, expenses, and operating costs.
  • Oversee cash handling, cash reconciliation, deposits, and point-of-sale transactions.
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly operational and financial reports.
  • Monitor profit margins, identify discrepancies, control expenses, and help improve profitability.
  • Maintain accurate financial and operational records and report significant issues to the owner promptly.
  1. Fuel Inventory and Supplier Management
  • Monitor fuel inventory levels, deliveries, and stock reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with fuel suppliers and ensure deliveries are scheduled and received correctly.
  • Verify delivery documentation and investigate fuel inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor convenience store inventory, order supplies, and minimize waste, shortages, and losses.
  • Maintain professional relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  1. Equipment, Maintenance and Safety
  • Monitor fuel pumps, underground or aboveground storage systems, payment terminals, refrigeration units, and other station equipment, as applicable.
  • Arrange preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and servicing.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed for fuel storage, dispensing, spills, and emergencies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe property, including the forecourt, store, washrooms, and surrounding areas.
