Development Engineer

If so, this could be the perfect role for you. Our client, a well-established engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking a Development Engineer to join their team in East Sussex. The successful candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering degree, experience with product or industrial design, and a proactive approach to supporting the development of innovative products from concept through to manufacture.
Development Engineer Permanent Position Salary: £26,000–£28,000 + Bonus Monday to Friday East Sussex
Development Engineer Job Description
- Support the design and development of new products from concept through to manufacture using SolidWorks
- Produce 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
- Assist with product testing, validation, and continuous improvement activities
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to meet product development objectives and project milestones
- Support prototype builds, evaluations, and design modifications based on test results and customer feedback
- Participate in design reviews and contribute innovative ideas for product improvements
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are suitable for production
- Assist in maintaining engineering documentation, BOMs, and revision control
- Ensure designs comply with relevant engineering standards and company quality procedures
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team
Development Engineer Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Experience with product design or industrial design, gained through industry, placement, or university projects
- Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Keen to develop technical knowledge and build a career within product development
